I bought a heavy duty 100ft when I bought my house 10 years ago. I specifically remember leaving the house on when I was a kid and it busting and getting chewed out by my father. Lol. So I bought the most heaviest duty hose they made so my son could leave it on. It hasn't burst yet but is a royal PITA to reel in and out with even an expensive hose reel.

All soft hoses will fail as soon as the fabric fails.

I have purchased many different fabric style hoses over the years, some "retractable" and some not. They are super convenient, but the longest they last is three years if you baby them. If one is left out during the winter, it will burst when you first use it next spring (I'm sure super hot climates in direct sunlight will probably break down the hose material as well). If the fabric gets caught and pulled on a fence or rose thorn it will burst instantly or start leaking. The constant pulling on a stone or brick patio, or driveway will eventually wear it down as well.

That said, I still buy them. I just buy cheap ones knowing full well that I will probably need to buy another one in two or three years. I bought a green heavy duty hose 13 years ago, which I have left outside in New England winters which is still going strong, I use that as a backup or tertiary hose, if needed. It's a pain in the butt to use, but It'll last forever.
