Let me start by saying I have always admired Klein tools. The thing that turns me off a bit is it appears Klein is going down the same road as DeWalt by slapping their name on tons of Chinese made tools that have probably nothing to do their long respected brand. In fact, I would say it devalues their brand to me. I understand the business economics that has companies turning to these tactics, but it saddens me. The question I have on this Klein product is how is it markedly better than other, cheaper Chinese infrared thermometers?

I was literally just comparison shopping for these and while this model has a better spot ratio than some brands, it lacks the low end of the temperature range that most models have. If you're always going to be measuring hot things maybe that's fine, but I've had the occasional need to diagnose HVAC systems and want something that can go lower than -4F. I passed on this model even at $30 as honestly it seemed overpriced. I think they're just taking advantage of the Klein name...

Klein is doing as you said with MANY product made by other now wearing a Klein badge, often to fill self space at Lowe's. To me, the Klein name now means cheaply made, overpriced stuff from Asia and Eastern Europe. Apparently that is what the current Klein family leaders wish. SD shills their imported products almost every day.

Amazon's description is wrong.

View the manual [media-amazon.com], and the following attachment to show 9V.

Even if it is 9V, it might not matter. I have another brand I bought in 2014. I think that ve changed the battery once. I use it daily now for work
