I got this for similar pricing back in 2020 for voice recording purposes. I was so astonished by the amount of preamp noise this thing had that I resold it quickly and budgeted higher for an SSL. Probably the cheapest 2-input interface with a solid metal chassis you can get, and that's really the nicest thing I can say about it. For instrumentals that run naturally loud, you might get mileage out of this.

Recommend refurbished old gen Scarlett solo or 2i2 devices instead of this

Yeah this thing is awful. Any other used interface on ebay will be significantly better. If going focusrite go for 3rd or 4th gen for driver stability. I have a presonus studio 24c that i got for $30 on eBay and it is also totally solid but dont like the mic preamp, also a little noisy but not terrible, cant complain at all for $30 though. Another 3rd gen 18i20 i have is much better

I had an old FireWire Focusrite back in the day, it was ok. I do love my Scarlet 2i2 ai got used and agree they are much better
