I bought the refurb version of this phone in June for $40 with the same service. Phone screen is great with the AMOLED but 4gb of RAM really hurts this phone. But I still would say it's ok for a backup phone but keep in mind about the 4gb if you were thinking this was an everyday phone.

4 GB is completely fine just Run ADB with the phone!
it's extremely simple you can just have Google Gemini or chat GPT talk you through it and and then there's a bit more you can do beyond the recommended wipe. Take a screenshot of all your apps beforehand in case you lose something you need, if something gets disabled you can just tell the AI chat what's missing and they'll tell you how to reload it.
it's the difference between it slowing down to a turtle pace or working perfectly for the rest of its life. The phone will be absolutely zippy, permanent 90 FPS motion

1,000% yes. there's really no reason to keep all the software bloat.
even for those who are scared by ADB (command line interface), there are a few apps that have a UI for ADB.
The "renewed" version is often on sale for $39. I've seen it as low as $37. It's currently $47.
Even at $37 it's a ripoff this phone is so slow it reminds me of one of them free phones they give out if you qualify for an Obama phone!
Latest Android update did seem to help speed it up a bit more where now you can't actually visibly see the lag of the animations from when you unlock it to where it transitions to home screen which ain't saying much just Samsung actually trying to make phone actually usuable as daily phone which it ain't. I mean just opened it up again to see and yeah still takes at least half a second just to open up the dialer to make a call so unless you like waiting wouldn't give they phone to anyone except someone I hate LOL

What slowing your phone down are bloatwares running in the background. 4GB is plenty if you know what you're doing with removing bloatwares and limiting background processes.
I bought a few of the renewed version and my phones are snappy using only 2 - 2.5GB memory. My bottleneck is actually the processor.
In the renewed threads, there are those complain about refurbished. Well this new version is for those who don't like refurbished.

The Moto G Power 2024 [amazon.com] is also a good option.
