think my contract is up in a couple months. would like to get this locked in though.
Over a year ago I was about 6 weeks from the end of the pricing I had. They gave me this. Call & ask.

Thanks for sharing. Even though it's for new customers, if anyone has any luck getting something like this for existing customers, please share any success you have.

Also, is adding a mobile line necessary? Or can this deal work for internet only?
I was able to get them to switch me to this plan during the last deal but it took like 20 tries with customer service. Most of them said it's not possible because it's for new customers, or that the offer isn't available on your account. But eventually I was able time chat with other rep and they just simply switched me to this 5 year 1gig deal without issue.

I was able to get this pricing as an existing customer without any hassle. Just told them AT&T has been sending me some enticing offers but I've had a good experience with Xfinity and would rather avoid the hassle of switching to a new provider..

They gave this to me over a year ago when it was time to annually 'renegotiate' my account. If you are a current customer, call & ask. Remember, the 1st rule of negotiation is if you never ask, the answer is always no.

& no, I did not get the mobile line. It still pops up as an offer in my xfinity app though...lol
I second this. Just call and ask them to renegotiate. I find it helps to already have renegotiated for a low plan the previous year. They know you are cheap and will just give you a similar deal to make you not jump ship. If they say no? Just call again at a different time and date. You need to get the loyalty department that has access to the cheaper plans. I treat it like a video game where you have to "unlock" the special levels. Is a 5 year price lock better than 1 or 2 year? yes but I rather just accept the price and leave the issue of calling again in a year for future me to deal with. That future me is coming up in 3 months so I am glad this deal is available because it makes it more likely they are just going to give me $45 again.

I was able to get this as a current customer, as my current promo was expiring, and I was calling to canel to switch to Quantum. I used to work here and you definitely need to mention to the rep to 'unlock' the retention offers. I was able to get 1 gig at $50x5yrs

edit: some more details, I called in, got the Philippines call center. I think internet chat is useless. I was also on a promo, that was expiring in a week.
also because i have my own model and it can't go fast enough i'm getting 600/30. The upload is capped on an owned modem. If i get their free rental then I can get symmetrical gig speeds

When I checked awhile ago when this was 1st posted by somne one else, and added in this 1GB plan and a landline for phone, it showed me the cost per month, plus ( FEE"S, TAXES ) and they charge you a model/router rental fee. It adds up fast !! and vs AT&T, not seeing a huge saves, besides the fact both of them are just evil and treat customers like .....

i never had any issues with comcast, people complain about the price increase but I always owned my own modem, so I'd just cancel. I do remember a girl I was dating ten years ago was probably paying 95 a month for hers, and when I put it in my name is a new customer, I think I was paying $40, I can see how that kinda stuff makes people mad about a company though. When I moved back to my hometown I got comcast for 29 months since it was brand new to our area. I don't think the service ever went out once. I think I paid $55 a month for 800 meg down, 25 meg up. Eventually I went to frontier which verizon now owns. 2 gig down, 2 gig up for $65 a month and I got a $300 visa debit card. 1 year contract. I have a plex server so I need that 2 gig upload speed as I share to many people. The 25 meg upload that comes with a cable modem just isn't doable for me anymore. Consider a 4k stream being like 25 meg a second, most people don't need more than 200 meg down

Talked to retention. Was not able to get it, but they are going to string me along for a at 1gig/50 bucks via discounts. They said they will check it each month and see if it becomes available. Won't get my hopes up, but we'll take it for now.

YMMV...
I've done it where I just opened another account with the same name with the new promotion. I then have 2 account numbers under my name and I canceled the older higher price account. I did it by accident. Been half a year now with no problems.

Open the deal page in an incognito window. After you add the deal to your cart, sign in to your xfinity account. You would still be able to check out and then once you purchased it, they will give you a second account number. When you log into your xfinity account, you will see that you have two account number. After that, you might have to log out and then relog into your xfinity app and once you relog into the app, select the second account number. After you confirm that everything is set up with your new account number, contact xfinity and tell them to cancel your first account number.

"Xfinity internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable" - Meaning slow uploads. Typical cable company deceptive marketing.
Eh. Depends on your locale. It's 'powered by fiber' as in it's mostly fiber except the 'last mile'.

I got the $50/mo gigabit earlier this year and it's been pretty legit. It's a 1000/100 plan, but they overprovision so I often see speeds more like 1200/120mbps. I've seen downloads up to about 140MB/s, and uploads around 14MB/s.. and things don't really seem to suffer during prime time either. Xfinity is really the only broadband option available in my neighborhood. No fiber competition sadly.

Speeds seem to depend moreso on the remote site & internet routing than anything. Very steady ping at all times of the day around 17ms, and minimal service interruptions.

What's nice is that this is a flat $50/mo with no added fees or taxes. Nice round number paid each month... and, unlike 'legacy' comcast plans, no crappy ~1.2TB monthly bandwidth cap either.

They've been hemorrhaging customers to Fiber competition after decades of customer abuse (price gouging & bandwidth capping) and it shows in these offerings - they're desperate to win people back.

Logged on to the Xfinity site. Thrice their chat agents kept disconnecting when I mentioned I am unhappy with my current services.
Called the helpline and spent 53 minutes. Agent said me paying $110/month for 1.5Gigs is already a great deal since its $40 cheaper than retail (lucky me!). Compared to T-Mobile, Astound, AT&T etc and he says best he can do is $85/month for 1Gig. (others are providing this for $30-45/month, similar no contract terms).

I asked if above promotion is available and he claims no, its been expired and the website has not been updated as yet. I read out "offer valid through August 24,2026" and after putting me on hold for 15 minutes he says this offer is only valid if you subscribe through a Xfinity store...
