Pretty straightforward with the physical gc. Not sure about email gc though. You can also use it for tips last time I used.

At least at our TG, they have to type in the card number and pin either way. So I load both physical and email gift cards to my Google wallet and then show them to the server when I get the bill. Even if I have to use 3 or 4 cards at once, it only takes a couple of minutes. Not as simple as your tap to pay credit card, but they're used to it. I tip in cash to make up for the hassle.

Worth the effort to save 25 - 33%.

One additional note is you can't use gift cards to pay for monthly memberships on the app. Maybe at the front counter, but I don't interact with them at all anymore.
