Note: 50+ oz jugs are on sale every now and then on Amazon/Walmart/Target. Perfect for refills.
With that said, I do buy these whenever they're on sale because we have a DIY laundry spray for spot treatment that uses Dawn Platinum and an enzyme cleaner concentrate. There's something to the idea that Dawn is more effective on grease / oil / stains, I just don't know that it's necessary for dishes.

With that said, I do buy these whenever they're on sale because we have a DIY laundry spray for spot treatment that uses Dawn Platinum and an enzyme cleaner concentrate. There's something to the idea that Dawn is more effective on grease / oil / stains, I just don't know that it's necessary for dishes.
All soaps have different levels of effectiveness per drop size and i.dont see anything coming close per volume.
My opinion is that Dawn is a flagship product at affordable prices.
I'm not sure what you're envisioning, but I have a scrub brush (bristles) and a blue scrub pad. I put two or three drops on whichever I'm using and then proceed to clean many dishes with it. I don't like filling up a sink because that wastes more water than how I do it.
I literally dodn't know how Dawn could be better the way I clean dishes. A few drops less over the course of an entire meal's worth of dishes...maybe? It certainly isn't going to make the dishes easier to clean because they're not hard now (admittedly, I don't let food dry on dishes and I soak anything that might be challenging).
This very much seems like a "I use Dawn because my habits necessitate a more effective soap" type thing.
I used the dishwasher detergent as an example of how I also don't need something expensive there, either
Laundry? Big container of Sam's Club brand powder (though I admitted to using diluted Dawn as a pre-treat spray).
Maybe it's my water that makes all of my stuff come clean quickly and easily with the "cheap" stuff? No softener, but our water isn't hard, either.
To each their own. I guess I'll consider myself lucky that my habits and situation give me clean dishes for a quarter of the cost and no additional work.
