Same reason LEGO is the price that it is. When you're the premiere brand in your category, you can charge certain rates. But tbh, if you think these are expensive, I can give you about 1000000 examples of other MTG cards that are much much more than this. lol

Only a couple dollars cheaper than TCG, not really a hot deal. I'll bite when these drop below $200. I don't think they'll get as low as $150.

WotC started to license trademarks into their cards to bring in more players, increase demand, and thus increase prices. It wasn't too bad until the final fantasy theme last year.
