I don't doubt this to be the case and have seen some negative replies- likely some quality issues- but I've had mine for a couple months and have been pretty happy with it. I'm 215 lbs and have done moderate speeds up to the full 12 incline with minimal issues, if any. So it seems like YMMV.

I have one from TRAILVIBER that looks superficially similar to this. I use it for walking, under the standing desk in my office. I'm sure it's not comparable to a professional unit, but I paid about $200 for it, and it's lasted me the past half year without any issues at all. I usually do a few hours on it a few times a week. I asked some questions to the customer support email once and they were surprisingly detailed and prompt in their response. I'm not a treadmill or walking pad expert by any means, but it might be worth a look for you.
