There was a thread from Jun 2026 that showed WM had these on clearance. I assume most stores are sold out by now.

If you're new to Switch, I would highly recommend dishing out another $150 for the Switch 2 on the Sam's Club deal going on now. Nintendo is already moving over to making Switch 2 exclusives, so if you want to play the latest games that is what you need. Plus a lot of the top games have had Switch 2 updates with better graphics, which is nice.

Edit: Forgot to mention, that the Sam's Club deal also includes a $70 game.

did you even read what they said? There are already Switch 2 exclusive (i.e. can't-be-played-on-Switch-1) games, with many more to come.

I looked into what SBRSUPERSTAR stated and it is somewhat true. You can play some of the exclusive Switch 2 games on Switch 1 like Pokemon Pokopia and Donkey Kong Bonanza. However, there are true exclusives such as Cyber Punk and Splatoon Raiders. Found this image below on reddit and it seems to hold up on how to tell which games work on Switch 1.

Knowing this new info, I still think the Switch 2 is the way to go. I can see developers pushing the limits passed the Switch 1 as we move forward to take advantage of the Switch 2 hardware. The first batch of "Switch 2 exclusives" could have been intended to work on both generation consoles but Nintendo wanted to market it as Switch 2 exclusive to push more console sales.

Note: Cyber Punk isn't a Nintendo exclusive. I'm just stating it works only on Switch 2.

Edit: Couldn't get the image to attach. Here is the link: https://imgur.com/a/ARXrKmg

You must didn't read what they said they spoke like switch 2 was the only system that could play the newest games for switch ,that's silly. They play the same games.

Average people gonna buy the cheaper system if they can afford it.
