I spent another $10 and got the 140mm version for my 9950x3d. Was there a better option?

Best air cool option for the money. If you have ram directly to the right of the CPU you'll have to flip the fan to the left. Using to OC a 5950x and it works well.

Thermalright Phantom Spirit for a few dollars more is usually better value. But both are top tier air coolers.

Makes it even better, there's no variant of the PA, including the 140, that performs better than the PS. The 7 heat pipes just beats out 6. Both are good tho.

I have the 140mm on my 9800x3d and its been rock solid for a year. Super quiet and keeps temps very low.

In additional to my 140mm PA, I have 2 x 140mm intake fans in the front and 1 x 120 exhaust fan in the back which are all thermalright and they are whisper quiet.

Couldn't be happier with the cooling.

I had to mount the right-most fan about 1/2" higher on the heatsink to clear my RAM, which is fairly low profile (no RGB stuff, just an integrated heatsink.)

Perhaps more worth mentioning, I can no longer access the PCIe slot release tab for my graphics card with this cooler installed. It's gigantic. Maybe I could fit a chopstick in there, but definitely not a finger. Not the biggest deal, but it's kind of annoying to know that if I ever want/need to remove my graphics card for any reason, I may have to remove this cooler and clean/re-apply thermal paste.
