It is unfortunately yes. They did release a new 20v model DXF1850B that has the optional AC plug so I think they realized their blunder with this model, especially since it's all people talk about how much better the old version was, but the new one is 18", much bigger. I'd still prefer the old version of this model that you can't get anymore.

agree it's just a fan, there's several other options equally as good where you can buy with the battery and still come out less than a hundred bucks. I'm deep into the DeWalt line but for tools only, all these accessories are crazy overpriced.

Different quality. This fan is really good. A 5Ah battery can last a whole night at medium speed.

Dang, I'm glad I got two of them a few years back on a slick deal for like $50 each....Those fans were GREAT during the hurricanes and no power.
