Edit: OP has been updated as of the new announcement of actual price increases.

What's the news?
Full quote of announcement in wiki
As of June 8th June 29th...
  • Pre-Orders for Batch 6 of Thor & Batch 7 of Odin 3 handheld game/emulation consoles are now closed. Now they're taking Pre-Orders for Batch 7 of Thor & Batch 8 of Odin 3. These will begin to ship sometime in August (Aliexpress indicates August 17th).
  • Prices will be increasing "Later this month" for both Thor & Odin 3 handheld game/emulation consoles. The price increase will take effect once the current "inventory allocation is sold". This could mean the price increase will affect the later pre-orders of Batches 7/8, or it may take place starting with Batch 8/9 pre-orders. It depends on when they decide to cut off the current batch.
  • Prices are increasing starting on Friday, 7/3/2026 at 10AM BJT, which translates to Thursday, 7/2/2026 at 7PM PT. Thor Lite, Base, Pro, and Max 512GB are increasing $10. Thor Max 1TB are increasing $30. All Odin 2 Portal and Odin 3 models are increasing $10.
How much will the Price Increase be?
They didn't say. Mad Announced price Increases have been added to the table below. These price increases are in effect starting 7PM PT July 2nd.

But, we can look at their official price history and previous price increases to make some guesses. These prices are either from initial pre-orders or from the AYN's website [ayntec.com], not including later Aliexpress sales.
 8/21/20259/7/20259/9/20251/20/20263/8/20264/16/20267/2/2026

Odin 3 Ultra 24+1TBN/A$499$519$519N/AN/AN/A

Based off the trends, if the unit you're looking to purchase has more RAM & Storage, then the price increase is going to be more dramatic. The AI Overlords spare no one their price increases.

If I want any of these, should I buy now before price increases or wait for a later sale?

The answer for at least Thor was to buy sometime around June 1st when Eragorn posted a thread for the sale on Aliexpress, with sale prices below retail even before coupon codes.

Now the prices on Aliexpress are back up, but there's still coupons. Your decision is going to come down to:

1.) Do you think there will be another sale on Aliexpress that will drop the prices more than they are now, even after one or more price increases? In a month? 2 months? 4 months?

2.) Given lead time for pre-orders can be one to two months, when do you want to have the device in your hands?

If you're going to buy now...

Here's tables with current coupons and after-coupon prices for each model, with a link to the product page above each table. These are sold at AYN's Official Aliexpress store; I'm getting ~$24 shipping and varying amounts of import/tax charges not included in the prices below. I imagine like usual the prices will shift slightly.

Edit: Codes are dead.
Edit2: New 4th of July sale for Aliexpress starts at 12:01AM PT July 1st with new coupons.

---
Hope that helps. At the very least if there is a sale in the future, we'll have a price record on what everything was going for on Aliexpress right now. Cheers.

@everyone

Hey everyone!

The 7th pre-order batch for Thor and 8th pre-order batch for Odin 3 are now live and available starting today!

We also wanted to give everyone an early heads-up that we're planning a price increase for both Thor and Odin 3 later this month. The new pricing will take effect once the current inventory allocation is sold through, so if you've been thinking about picking one up, now would be a great time to place your order.

A few quick notes:
✅ This new pre-order batch will continue to use UFS 3.1 storage.
📦 Orders from this batch are expected to begin shipping in August.

As always, thank you all for the amazing support and enthusiasm. We can't wait to get these devices into your hands! ✨

Thor Base also has the S8G2 processor; only the Lite has a different one.

Yeah I didn't include the Thor Lite in the comparison because it's not sold on Aliexpress and honestly the price difference is about ~$40 between buying Thor Lite direct from the manufacturer and getting the Thor Base model w/ better processor after coupon from the AYN's aliexpress store. I think the shipping direct from AYN is a bit dodgier too.
Thanks. I focus more on PC emulation. I forgot that there was a base configuration. I am a "max" type.

where to get a reliable modded oled switch in like new condition?
I would go with a Thor over a modded Switch. The ability to emulate PC games is emerging and really opens up you gaming options. With that said, I have a Switch OLED…but I wouldnt make it my primary device.

Yeah I ordered the 512GB Max. Kinda wish I paid $50 more and got the 1TB, but I don't think it matters that much at the end of the day. Mostly I see the option of getting 16GB of RAM as future proofing for better winlator emulation, since that's probably the only place where that much RAM is going to be an issue.

I went with 1TB for PC games. 512 would probably have been fine. But I don't need an SD card now. Those are expensive.

8GB memory is enough for console emulation. You want 12GB+ if you intend to do PC emulation.

OP Updated with announced price increases. New price increases take effect Thursday, July 2nd 7PM PT.

There's a July 4th sale on Aliexpress starting on July 1st 12:01AM PT (If you go in the app, you can "collect" 3 special unique coupons for the sale. I don't think they'll matter, except the $67 off $479 coupon if you plan to get the Thor Max 512GB and they drop the base price for it below $499).

I've noticed since I wrote down some Aliexpress prices before that AYN has quietly raised the base prices on their aliexpress store since 6/15 on every model by $10 - $15, and the Base model is OOS. AYN might discount it back down for July 1st, but also they might not and they're just getting enough orders that they're going to make customers eat Aliexpress's marketplace commission.
