Do you think it's fair to punish the UFC fight fans like me because of Trump? I don't support Trump and I don't think that the card should be held at the White House but I still want to see the fights. I'm not willing to stop watching the UFC because Dana decided to get political. It's time for Dana to go but he's made it abundantly clear that the UFC doesn't care what the fans think. It's hard to switch sports when there isn't an alternative. What am I going to watch, soccer?
I think we love you and want you to enjoy whatever entertainment you can, but in this case, there will be other fights but there won't be another 80th b/d for this creep (both in the invasive species term & the ick factor). So his comeuppance "trumps" your entertainment for this ONE TIME.

And it's probably only a pipe dream anyway. He'll sit there, glowering between "long rests" of his eyes/ear (which was an excuse for his head touching his shoulder). HE won't have fun, just "revenge" by putting the fights in an inappropriate place & spending all that money at an inappropriate time.

I hope you get some entertainment out of it either way.

I saw an article that Costco is going to lower prices on some Kirkland items.
It appears that more people are joining and their profit includes membership fees so they're going to pass it on to consumers. That's win/win and about as ethical as a for-profit company can get. Good for them, may they continue to stand apart and hopefully inspire other companies to get off the greed fixes and into the long term loyalty advantages based on trust and quality goods.

For at least a few weeks now Family Dollar has been doing a spend save $10 on a $30 spend digital coupon on Saturdays. We've been buying a lot of pet food there!

I've never seen anything like the UFC ceremonial weigh-in's for the White House card. It was absolutely crazy. I think that Pereira got the biggest pop but the crowd went crazy over O'Malley, too. Tomorrow is going to be epic and with it being at the White House and the extra bonus money it really is a one of a kind event. Let's go!!

Josh Hokit is something else. He continued his antics at the weigh-in where he made fun of fighters who fight two divisions below their actual weight. One fan even said that it was disrespectful to criticize fighters who work so hard to cut weight. Hokit critics don't realize that they're part of the comedy show. Hokit could be fighting for the title next and it's all because of the hard work he put in. He wasn't given anything. He represents the American Dream.

Grinbut how would he blame THAT on Biden? Or that guy with a tan suit?

having no one to blame on his midnight rants might frustrate him so much he'd break out the nukes on Iran, and California's voting booths....

ETA: I just saw a Belgian woman I follow on FB include a great line on her rant about 47, in a piece addressing his assertion that "guys like me built this country"
She said That's not leadership.
That's a parasite calling the host lazy.

I hope everyone has a nice Flag Day on Sunday
Yes to all of that.

Dana White is scum, for sure. But I'm sure you could skip one fight and still survive.

Heck, Nascar has had their races on Amazon Prime for several weeks recently and we've survived without it because we're not willing to pay for Amazon Prime to watch them.

Quote from FabulousPickle2826 :
The UFC White House card is being paid for the UFC. Dana White has said that it will cost 60 million and the UFC will take a 30 million dollar loss.
If UFC has $30 million to lose, they have too much money.

All well said!

How do you justify having a Costco membership for just the two of you? I can't figure out how to make it worth my while.

I wish we had one closer, it's almost 15 miles away in a direction I almost never go. So I'm still shopping Dollar General. Some weeks they have the $5/$25 coupon good M-F in addition to a $5/$25 on Saturdays. I just always tell the cashiers we have to save however we can! (Legally, of course!)

There was so much excitement at the ceremonial weigh-in tonight. I've never seen anything like it. It was like the Super Bowl x 10. You can't deny fans this great moment. I don't care about Trump. I want to relax tomorrow and watch the fights. I have to go to the hospital once again on Monday but this time it's for possible surgery.

Well if it storms and rains out the events, just know I'm not the only one hoping his birthday party is spoiled. Or blame it all on me if you prefer.

Good luck at the hospital tomorrow.

Without a doubt, this was the best fight I've ever seen in my life. I wouldn't have missed it for a million bucks.

The worse the economy is, the more we use it, and of course it depends on WHAT you want and use.
My specifics:
The only chicken I buy is cooked Costco 4.99 ea. We only eat the white meat and occasional leg, used to feed a lot of the other meat to our cats (last one died) but still have visiting critters that we give some of the meat to. And the thighs go to my MIL. She can afford it but at 90 its better to just have cooked dark (her preference) meat and nothing to cook or cut up. (the bones get turned into broth).

The very good sourdough 6.49 for 2 pk, which is 6.49 ea at Safeway. Its one bread type DH and I both like. I suppose there MIGHT be a decent loaf that he would like on sale for $3 once in a while, but this is just easier.

Romaine hearts 6pk 4.99. Same price for a 3pk in other stores.

that right there is probably $15 cheaper than a run to a supermarket.

plus gas is usually cheaper than SW, and I have gotten better use of my SW rewards for "stuff" as I only have a 10 gal. gas tank

Other items I get are at least comparable to sale prices in supermarkets and I have more trust in Costco's ethics. I'll buy farm raised fish there that I'm leery about anywhere else. I seldom have a problem with quality

and no messing with rewards or DQs

but we DO get 2% back.
The reg. Gold membership is $65/yr and gets 1% back. If you plan a big purchase, like tires or an appliance, $130 for executive membership gets 2% back. And they INTEND for the customer to get at least $130 back at that level.
This year, we didn't shop (or drive) much so only got $36 check
and Carl found out that we can take that check to CS and since we did NOT earn our membership fee back we can apply the "extra" $65 we paid to next year as a Gold member. If we'd earned $100 (over the $65 Gold fee), they would give us $30 more. So all one has to justify IS the $65 fee, anything else can be reclaimed in some fashion.

You get 2 cards per membership and if your DH doesn't ever go, I believe you could have someone else as your 2nd party and negotiate between yourselves about splitting the fee. MIL was contemplating doing this with her daughter, even though they live in different states. It looked like it would be do-able. I don't remember if Party #2 has to be a relative.

As my DS stockpile dwindles, I'm getting things like vitamins there instead of wrestling with a CVS or WAGs deal. As I age, I miss more details and/or read the wrong tag or just don't want to mess with sending someone back to check.

We're not on the ragged edge of poverty, either, much of my deal and sale shopping is habit or feeling like I'd choke if I paid $$ for something I used to enjoy. I'd rather find an alternative, make or grow it myself. Hope my need to use a lot of words was comprehensive and not fatiguing to read!!

Great info, thanks. I'll keep it in mind, the closest grocery to us is actually a Costco. Ours doesn't have a gas station though (it sits over an aquifer), so we wouldn't get that benefit.

We aren't on the edge of poverty either, thankfully!

And I thought this fight was going to be a joke. I've never been so wrong about anything in my life. Both guys took unbelievable punishment but in the end one guy was still standing. What an amazing end to an amazing card.

Costco usually has a $45 gift card with a new membership for Black Friday. I keep on wanting to do it but there's no bus service to my Costco and it's too far for me to walk to. The biggest problem I have with Costco is willpower. There's so much that I want to buy but I'm on a fixed budget so I can't. It's probably best that I don't have a membership. I love how you can walk into Costco and get the best price without all of the Ibotta nonsense.

If you're into soccer, there's a pretty good deal on Dove Men's deo with the FIFA logo at CVS. It's $9.99 bogo 50% with a $10/2 dq and $2 EB which makes it $1.50 ea. The $10/2 dq only works on the FIFA ones.
