I finished Season 2 of The Man in the High Castle. It's based upon a dystopian novel by Philip Dick where Germany and Japan won WW2. Rufus Sewell is fantastic as John Smith, the Nazi SS leader, but Alexia Davalos bogged things down as Juliana Crain, a fighter for the Resistance. It's worth a watch although it's a little confusing. Hopefully, the last two seasons will clear things up.

I remember the pilot, which I loved but DH told me I wouldn't like the series.

The pilot was unique, IIRC, in that Amazon had 6 pilots and the viewers got to vote on which one would go on to become a series.

But I like Philip K. Dick, and Rufus Sewell, so maybe I should try it, too. I've mostly been watching 1930s-40s movies on my kitchen TV while I work - seems to offset reality which is becoming too much like not-sees.

I was disappointed when I heard Rufus' name said aloud. I'd said SEE-Well, but it's SUE-ell which sounds too much like sewer....

I thought it was See-Well, too. See-Well is much cooler than than Sue-ell but I wouldn't tell John Smith that. If you're a fan of his, don't miss Castle. The series is too slow for me and has a lot of things that I don't really understand. If I had to compare it to anything, I'd say The Handmaid's Tale. It's a world gone crazy and everybody is struggling to survive. It's not that different from our reality today.

What movies are you watching from the 30's and 40's? I love old movies. I love old tv shows, too (well, some of them lol).

Currently, I have a Marx Bros movie on "the Big Store". Had never heard of it.
Others come up on YouTube after I watched one, but I'm not sure I remember the names. I haven't seen most of them. One was The Unsinkable Molly Brown with Debbie Reynolds.

I started watching Gaslight on Roku but it's too much like reality.

Charade is my go-to favorite, and I fell in love with Jimmy Stewart when I was 7 so pretty much anything with him.. Occasionally I'll still find something with him that I've never seen.

I read Handmaid's Tale ages ago, finally got Hulu but stopped when they stopped following the book. I didn't really think it was true to the character.

I gave up on Castle and watched Radioactive Emergency and although it was very sad, I really enjoyed it. Netflix is helping me get thru my dental pain. It was horrible tonight but it finally died down. Of what I have, marijuana gummies work the best for dental pain. Percocet helps a little bit but I have to take 2 pills. The antibiotics don't seem to be doing much. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to get some help. I went to the dentist and he can't treat me because of my heart. He said to go to the ER. The ER wouldn't treat me because they don't deal with dental pain so they told me that I needed to see a cardiologist. I thought I had an appointment set up with the cardiologist but his office never called back to confirm it. I'd have to wait 2 weeks to see her anyway and I don't think that I can handle the pain for so long. I'm taking drugs 24/7 to try to deal with it. That and watching Netflix. It would be easier if I had a car but everything is 3 hours by bus. It's awful to spend 6 hours on the bus for nothing especially when I'm in pain. They did labs on me when I was in the ER and they weren't good. My blood pressure is thru the roof and I have low potassium and anemia. I couldn't believe that they let me go home considering my heart history and the amount of pain I was in. The ER doctor got very annoyed with me when I mentioned dental pain and couldn't get me out of there quickly enough.

The Man in the High Castle is well done but it is not faithful to the book, really, except for in broad ways. I'd recommend the book and others by Dick who is somewhat prescient in anticipating our reliance on pharmaceuticals. I really enjoyed The Expanse (James S. A. Corey) for SciFi and it is fairly faithful to the book series although they just kind of pull the plug before getting to any conclusion in the tv series. On amazon prime. I'm watching some odd police show made in Barcelona on amazon called Day One. It's kind of anticipating evil tech bros and their lack of concern with the effects of their inventions on others. One benefit of it is half hour long episodes, so you get through them quickly.

I gave up on The Castle and watched a series about radiation exposure in Brazil, a movie about the Nuremburg Trials with Rami Malek and Russell Crowe, and now I'm watching a series about an accident at Japanese nuclear power plant in 2011. I haven't been finding much to watch on Hulu but Netflix has so many things that I'm interested in.

My dental pain is much better now thanks to the marijuana gummies. I've been taking the THC ones but CBD is supposed to be better for pain and sleep. In my opinion, the gummies are a much better option for severe pain than opioids because you don't have to worry about getting addicted. The gummies provided much better pain relief than percocet.

Wow, that's great! And I guess that's why people are likely impaired to drive when using more than alcohol and prescription drugs.

My only point was that marijuana gummies are an alternative to prescription pain meds. I didn't say anything about combining things and then driving. Obviously, it's a very bad idea to drive while under the influence of anything that can impair you.

I have been finding that when I am in more pain D9 plus full spectrum CBD in at least a 1:3 ratio hits the best. Last time we were in Key West we stopped by a smoke shop and talked with a budtender for awhile. The gummies with this ratio or better seem to be on the pricier side so lately on bad days I have either been doing a part of a pricy gummy or a D9 gummy and some full spectrum tincture I already had on hand. Both work great. If you can get some full spectrum CBD to try with the D9, you might really like how that helps. It's different for everyone. FS CBD can be mildly psychotropic but I dont react to it, at least in the quantities that I take. But I do keep my doses small so ymmv.

Happy almost four 2-0. Impatiently awaiting earl access to the sale by my favorite brand. lol

For those that might be concerned. I am also safe and do not drive when I partake even though I stick to small doses.

I'm taking Hybrid Indica 10 mg THC gummies. It takes about 90 minutes for them to kick in. If I'm in a lot of pain and need quicker pain relief, I'll also take a couple of Percocets. I don't like taking Percocet but sometimes I don't have a choice. Fortunately, I'm not in the pain that I was in last week so I haven't taken anything since Saturday. I wanted to try CBD but the dispensary I went to doesn't carry it. All I know about D9 is that it's the legal THC and the amount you can have is regulated. If you have a suggestion about what I should get for pain relief the next time I go to the dispensary, I'll give it a try. I would also like something for sleep. I'm not a big fan of sleeping pills or melatonin and I'm definitely looking for an alternative. All of this stuff is more complicated for me because of my heart condition. I've asked my doctors about the gummies and while they can't tell me to take them, they didn't say not to. I like being able to regulate my own pain relief rather than asking a doctor for a prescription and then not getting what I need (for example, 5 mg instead of 10 mg). I've been off of all drugs (except what I took for my dental pain) for over a month. The gummies make me really high so I don't take them unless I've had a really bad day and I'm totally stressed out. The other thing is that it's hard not to gain a million pounds on the gummies. My appetite has really kicked up since I had the heart surgeries in Dec and Jan so the last thing I need is the munchies.

So i broke down and finished BANDI on Netflix. The acting performances were excellent but the script was incoherent and the music was violent and offensive. The ending set up a Season 2 but I hope they don't do it.
