M18 9Ah or 12Ah are runners but they cause issues with the elbow over repeated use.
That being said, many of us have been using cut-off discs on grinders with regular guards (or no guards!!!) for decades, but you do you and assess the level of risk that you will personally accept.
The claim that a 4 1/2" 18 volt grinder can't cut metal is ridiculous. Perhaps they are referring to the included griding disk. You slap a cut off wheel on these and they cut for days if you have the batteries to swap in. I regularly cut 3/16 with a cut off wheel and smooth and shape with a 40 - 60 grit flap disk.

* if you or anyone else wants just the jigsaw for 76, DM me. I already have the jigsaw. my total with tax was 152.55... so if someone pays 1/2, if not I'll sell it locally on FB or Craigslist.
