MS should have never went proprietary these are still expensive compared to standalone nvme drives.

Not really for that size of drive. Look at the steam deck drives. Nvme 2242 are expensive and the cheaper ones run hot.
They should have allowed 2280 drives. I purchased 1tb WD black 2280 for $79.99 from Amazon last month.

Even the PS5 has far cheaper 1tb SSD drives than the xbox ones.

MSRP seems to have dropped. On Seagate's website it shows $109/$199/$359. I think the 1TB used to be $219

Good luck, you'll be waiting for it to hit your price used at GameStop once a newer Xbox console is released.

I had $100 in Amazon gift cards so I bought the 2 TB model for $260 plus tax. I love it. I just keep installing as many games as I want from Game Pass without having to worry about deleting anything.

Some people got it for dirt cheap the other day at Target.

10% electronics code, 15% registry code, 5% red card, I even got 5% birthday

1tb ssd was $139? I can't remember
Still overpriced laugh out loud

I can see the value if you play a lot of different Series X/S games.

I just use a $99 external 1TB SSD and a 4TB HDD.

I have to move the game to internal if it's for Series X/S but that takes about a minute for 50GB.

Someone needs a working nvme adapter that fits 2280 drives. It'll just stick out more.

Even on sale the 2TB is three times the cost of a 2TB nvme bare drive.

for all those (understandably) complaining these are overpriced, my only advice is to watch FB marketplace / OfferUp really closely on these. I got one for 100 bucks.
