Anyone have a problem using the $20 voucher to cover the $5.95 activation fee on a Visa or MC? TIA
Quote from Zev67 :
I received a real surprise today at SR when I purchased $100 VGC and some groceries, used my $20 voucher from last week and then gave SR GC for the difference between total and $100 (VGC) and the register took the total value of SR GC and asked for the balance to be paid. Which was around $20.
exactly what you are asking for as my total groceries was about $15

Thank you for the mention of the gift card deal at Foodtown. We have one but for many reasons, we stopped shopping there. I thought OK . . . this deal will have me give it a whirl. I was buying $100 in gift cards and $25 worth of groceries while I was there. It went downhill immediately. No signs on the display or at the registers. Just a cashier who got really loud as soon as she saw my gift cards screaming Cash only. I asked really nicely if by any chance a debit with a pin number would work. The cashier got louder and told me I wasn't listening. OK . . . The ATM 2 doors down is in-network. I got cash and was back in 3 minutes.

I was buying $50 to Kohls and $50 to Amazon. They were adamant that they could not ring up two separate cards in one transaction. I stayed calm but that only seemed to get them more upset with me. I wasn't buying one of the cards pictured. I had to buy one $100 card and the fact that the ad clearly stated otherwise did not matter because they could not read the ad - the print was too small (I swear that is what the cashier said). If they voided off the one gift card they scanned or tried to add one the register would crash, burn, and set the store on fire. OK. The last two are my own exaggeration. It would crash and that would be horrible.

I was told I was acting hostile and aggressive and that they did not have to put up with that. So I just shut my mouth and stood there. I think they thought I would leave. I did not. Somehow It went through and I paid my $75 in cash. They rang up my groceries separately (I wanted to use my credit card for that for points). Yes, I bought the groceries. It was snowing. It was late. It was chocolate pudding.

All of a sudden the cashier was telling me they were just following store policies and doing what they were told. The original cashier kept giving me the death stare as I said that's fine but when you ask a question no one should be nasty to you. Her response? Well, you got your gift cards. Have a nice night. I wanted to tell her in my Brooklyn best to f off. My husband who never cares about this stuff wants me to write a letter. I grew up going to Mel Wietz's Foodtown and my mother always said they were people who looked out for customers. She's gone 25 years next year so I guess not so much anymore . . .

On a side note if anyone still needs gift cards and you have Speedway gas stations, they giving 300 bonus points on $25 gift certificate purchases (most but not all cards included).

When you stated "asked for the balance to be paid". I took that to mean vouchers weren't covering fees,my bad.

With NFC, you just hold your phone or other device over the payment terminal. It then proceeds the same as it would had a card been inserted or swiped. Some terminals have a separate clearly marked area. The terminals in the ShopRites here don't; anywhere over the screen has worked fine for me.
I'm sorry to revisit this but do you know if this works at all shoprites.. I walked over to customer service and when I asked them about it they looked at me like I had 3 heads.

Any answer for those two questions? TIA

Anyone in CT bought $100 gift card and got the $15 voucher? This promotion is NOT showed in the weekly flyer.

For the Godiva CAT, can we roll it? Can we buy 3 bags and apply $1.25 CPN * 3 and $3.75 CAT and still get a $3.75 CAT?

Someone already answered you about the Godiva--go back and check the posts. However, my answer would be "Yes." I know I did this last year.

Re the $15 voucher, I do think all ShopRites are participating. I'm not from CT, so not 100% sure, but are you sure you don't have any mention of it in a small box somewhere at the bottom of a page? I seem to remember seeing it, but it wasn't a stand-out in the ad. I just know they've done this every year for a long time.

Re Godiva, btw, folks--my ad does say "while supplies last," so it may be difficult to get R/Cs for this.

One New Cat:
Tazo Tea Products 12/2 - 12/29: B1 Get $.75, B2 Get $1.50 or B3+ Get $2.50 OYNO.

It would require the payment terminal to support NFC. The terminals at all the Saker ShopRites around here are NFC-enabled, and I've used NFC in the past at some of the stores along rte 206 in northern NJ (Flanders, Newton, etc.) I guess it's possible some stores might still have old terminals, although I think that's unlikely since the terminals had to be upgraded to support the chip embedded in credit/debit cards. Unfortunately, I don't remember the terminals being clearly marked with the NFC symbol. When I first started using it here, some of the cashiers didn't know that it worked, but now they've become accustomed to it. As soon as I bring out my phone, I see them tap whatever buttons they need to on their screen without even saying anything. You can try it... just put the phone in payment mode and hold it over the payment terminal's screen when it is ready to accept payment. It should pick up the payment info within a few seconds, just as if you had inserted a card.
