One of the head front end people flagged me down to tell me about the new EQ policy, smiled and told him I already heard.
Then he's telling me they are also changing the paper/internet coupon policy to ONE like coupon per transaction as well 5/5.
I don't know if he's confused, or he means only one Q will double or what. Hopefully just confused, but if by some chance the 1 paper thing is right, that's like insane already.
This store is part of the co-op out of Flemington, NJ.

That was my first thought too, especially on the ONE like paper coupon max thing, which I still find kind of hard to believe.
Restricting coupon use to that extreme is really a game changer. Now granted, many EQ's may become limit 4 redemptions per card and that might be another factor in limiting paper Q's but since no one else but me has heard this apparently, we'll just hope he had his information mixed up and that's not happening.
OK, I use android, had to do the barcode scan and was rejected. then went back and looked closely at the rebate offer and saw the 8 pack pictured. However, there was no wording that I could see that it was a specific size package, just the photo. wish they'd put the info there too so you aren't guessing.
But they are a company in business to make money, not pay people to come into their store and get items. This week alone there are about $10+ in mm items due to double dip. Multiply that by about at least 10K who read these boards and that is $100K in 'overage' free stuff handed out. I am a believer in the old saying, 'there's no such thing as a free lunch'.
That's just it, I don't think that is happening. Manufacturers don't want to pay out two coupons against one product. Obviously there's something going on behind the scenes that is forcing this change.

There is a degree of common sense/educated guess here.
If what you say is true and the manufacturers were paying out left and right on double dipped coupons with no blow-back, why would ShopRite want to squelch sales at its stores. Something this change is guaranteed to do.

But today despite the internet coupon redemption rates are no where near really high percentages (coupons available vs redemptions) so my guess is a large grocer like my SR sells way more product than coupons redeemed.
But it always gnawed at me about how could 1 item sold have 2 coupons claimed (ip and eq). So unless the manufacturers were giving leeway to SR, the store had to eat the eq.
Bear in mind a huge percentage of the grocers actual income comes from slotting fees from manufacturers. And the biggest manufacturers pay the most slotting fees because they can afford those fees better than small manufacturers/sellers. So maybe the stores ate the second coupon (eq) on a single item
