I concur since it has happened to me more than once that more than 4 coupons for the same brand (Oikos) but different types of yogurts didnt double when scanned and so pointed it out and was told they can not even accept the coupon's face value as it is same product despite Triple Zero being utterly different than Oikos OH which is not the same as Oikos plain flavor but their common entity was all from Oikos and all for yogurt.

In another note my NYC SR seems to be cracking down more on coupons as the 5/3 Colgates didnt scan and now they wont take coupons which dont scan as overrides unless a supervisor approves.
Today I bought 3 Oikos Oh and my total was 3 dollars, no other purchases, 3 coupons making it a zero balance and the SC attendant tells me he has to cancel out the coupons because of zero balance. Incredulously I ask why and am told company doesnt make any money. I ask for a manager and assistant store manager walks over. Tells her was there any overage>> if not put it through. I tell him her
explanation about store not making money on zero balance and he says well that is true.
Lesson learned avoid zero balance but the writing is on the wall about overages and maybe even double dipping (eq's and ip's, which technically if both manufacturers coupons is wrong as only 1 item is sold)

IM not sure if a large supermarket gets the handling allowance since at SR , or at least mine here in NYC,they merely sort out all the internal SR coupons and bag everything else and apparently they use a fulfillment service who processes their coupon reimbursements and likely that company's paid from handling charges so 50 cents for a 1 dollar item actually might not cover fully their expenses when you learn a large supermarket typically earns 2 or so percent net profit after everything which is very similar to a typical auto dealer where I learned about profit margins. At the dealer at least their accounting structure is designed to minimize paper profit and most dealers have much additional "income" with their demos and travel and allowance expenses so the store is not outside reality to say they dont make any money but surely they need understand a zero balance is the exception and not everyday event but my feelings are they are feeling the "couponers" effect much more than I thought before.And my SR has always been a really easy going store compared to some of the horror stories others have spoken of at various SR locations in MD and NJ and even here in NY.

The easy work around is always have enough items in your order so you wind up with some kind of a balance, even if it is just 40c at the end. At least you get something for the effort rather than being told you can't have a zero balance. There have been a number of times when I saw myself headed towards a negative balance, I always run and grab something off the shelf to make sure that doesn't happen.

Just a heads up! I shopped on Thursday at SR. When I got home and checked my receipt, I noticed that NONE of my digital coupons came off. Went back to SR and received almost $20.00 for my digital coupons. Customer service then tells me, everything was down that day! Not sure if this happened to anyone else.

For a few hours on Thurs.at my local SR the credit card, gift card system weren't working, cash only and I have seen this happen at SR on a few occasions
