Congrats to all the new parents out there. Car seats are one of the most exciting first purchases for your baby. No matter what car seat you get, remember to check your straps every time. We started on Graco car seats and our baby loved it.

1st time parent! Whats best car seat / stroller for the money? If im not mistaken, the ladies prefer one that's both but for my question here doesnt have to be.

In my (4 children) opinion, for the first car seat: find the best deal you can for a system with a base. Like Graco Click Connect or Chicco KeyFit.

You can get the infant ready inside, carry them in the pod, and pop that pod into both the car or a stroller easily.

Once they hit the size requirements, look at the car seats like in this post.

I agree with genpat. You can find a caddy (the stroller base that the infant car seat snaps into) for next to nothing used. The functionality is amazing, especially if your kid falls asleep in the car and you want to let her finish her nap inside (or walking around in the stroller). You'll miss it when your kid outgrows it (usually around 12 months), but by that point, your kid will be getting pretty heavy to lug around in a car seat, anyway.

Recommendation: buy whichever seat supports the tallest maximum height. Way more kids get too tall for infant seats than get too heavy for them. My oldest outgrew her infant seat at 11 months but didn't hit the max weight for it until she was 3 years old and a full foot taller than the max height.

Agreed! It was quite fun to shop fot deals for strollers and car seats! We have a slim fit graco that works well. Also a nuna revv for the youngest.

You can bring in any used carseat to Target, drop it in a big cardboard shipping box, and there's a barcode to scan there that adds a coupon to your account that's good for 20% off of two (separate) car seat purchases. People are giving away old carseats on Facebook Marketplace all the time for this exact reason.
