How in the world is this a good deal and being thumbed up? Trash TN display and build quality, and sub-par processor. You're better off buying refurb laptops with much better processors, displays, and even 16GB RAM; such deals via eBay are periodically posted. I've even seen some new laptops with better specs than this for a few bucks more.

It's a decent deal as a gift, brand new and a warranty without buying from an unknown/3rd party seller. Good for basic high school or most non-stem college students. If buying for yourself refurbished/open box will get you better hardware if you know what you are doing. Otherwise decent deal on windows laptop for basic needs.

You'd only gift this to someone you hate or despise. TN in 2026 for almost $300 is atrocious and downright unacceptable. Any person viewing anything on such a display would regret being gifted this. The only people this could be acceptable for would either be children or old folks, and that too if this was around $200, not $300. At the latter it's just bad value and waste of money.
Secondly, I wasn't referring to unknown third-party sellers but those which are well-reputed, reviewed, and commonly posted here.
