There are good and bad things about these units.. but the good FAR outweighs the bad.
In the land of these cheap Chinese head units, ATOTO and Joying are considered top tier.
The good...
Price. You cannot touch anything close to this in a name brand unit for this price.
The sound quality is excellent.
You can play far more formats that any standard name brand can play.
The picture quality on the screen at least matches top tier and it may be a little better.
As far as I can tell, the reliability is as good as name brands.
I replaced an expensive Pioneer with this as the Pioneer had failed. It may have been 2-3 years old.
I used this for at least 3 years before selling the car and it was working fine.
The bad...
The install instructions are what you would expect. Nothing terrible if you have any knowledge installing a head unit. And you can google support questions if you get stuck.
Although the sound quality is very good, the pre-amp strength is about half of a name brand. This is not a big deal and any decent amp can easily overcome this. But be aware. I cannot remember if it has it's own amp. I only used it as a preamp.
Although the software is very functional and looks good overall, you will find spots where it does not seem to be finished. They clearly took an existing code and adapted it. But they were not concerned about cleaning up where the code should end. (The best way that I can describe it) This is purely cosmetic and you will rarely even see it. But it is there.
I do not recall ever being able to update the version of Android. Of course, you probably never update your head unit..but it being android, I felt like it should be mentioned.
The body of the unit was thinner metal than your name brand units. Now is there any downside to this? None that I can think of...but I am just mentioning it.
The screen does not get overly bright...but honestly, this screen is as bright as any name brand that I ever had...so do with that what you will.
Hope this helps
