JBYB: They would be fine but there are better choices.
Hoka started the Cloud/Foam trend in which running shoe's soles are 2~3 inches thicker.
Hoka Clifton offers more cushioning and stability for longer, slower runs, while the Hoka Rincon is lighter, firmer, and better suited for faster, shorter runs.
all that being said, I don't think I've ever seen Clifton on sale for this price. at $60+ for running shoes, maybe give it a try. since you're "only" running 1-3 miles, probably many shoes would work for you.
