Not sure it's a deal but wow, what a revival. I guess when consoles go for so much money today a whole system with a bunch of beloved games make sense at this price.
No it doesn't. A thousand dollars for a bunch of 35 year old games and the relevant console and accessories? This is only valuable for nostalgia's sake. Otherwise, it's a ripoff.

Unless you want this as a collectors thing, you can just get all this stuff through emulation wayyyyy cheaper, which is basically what this is.

I remember when they had the audacity to release a $650 system (with $200 games!) in the early 90s.

It absolutely was "arcade quality" but that pricing, combined with SNK's relatively weak library and lack of partnership with other publishers, really did them in.

Still, it somehow hung around for 13 years.

I agree with you, though this isn't emulation.

What happened? I was surprised to hear there's even a delay. I've been out of the loop and was under the presumption that development (by Jotego for the NeoGeo core/AES+) was going well and that the product was right on track for release.

I agree, and I'll do you one better: Retropie if you have a RPi lying around; I already own 2x RP5s, 1x RP4.

Yeah true, but this has an HDMI out where the old AES you have to play games with the old setup before you can actually play games. Theoretically, you can still use both the emulation cart with all the games and the non emulated carts coming out for the "true experience". But there is talk of 8 to 10 new games that will be released as well

$35 for 16kb memory card! Thats worse than the current RAM/NVME inflation. Surprised they couldn't get the console to support a higher size storage or USB storage.

Exactly. I'm sure I have ahem roms for those but would never play anyways. Heck I can barely play games older than ps1.
