Can you find a link to what the dewalt ones looked like? Curious about the difference in shape

Yeah. It was surprisingly difficult to find. They seem to have obliterated it from the DeWalt website. Product SKU is DWA4214, and it was called "oscillating multi material blade"; kinda bummed I think I finally lost the last of mine. Oh, last thing: the outer circumference was dull from the factory but I always put an edge on them. Worked really good for squishy foams.

Thank you, much appreciated. I wonder if the flimsiness of the thinner metal on the Bosch is messing with the vibration. I plan to try grinding a few cutting shapes out of standard blades

The thickness actually is comparable between the two, I don't recall there being much difference there. The main difference I think is the angle at which the blades oscillate. One is roughly parallel to the rotating axis, the other is perpendicular to the rotary axis, so one kind of saws, and the other basically hammers it's way through the material. If one didn't work well on a given material the other usually did great.

The Bosch blade just seems to aggressively jiggle the material so the energy of the tool is lost. My Starlock tool FWIW is the Makita XMT04 which is a particularly aggressive tool as far as the oscillating angle, so perhaps it works better on tools with less oscillating angle.
