Same one Dole pineapple factory in Hawaii sells for $20. I have one purchased years ago for $5. Given inflation, this is pretty good price. I like the convenience and ease it offers - twist in then pull.

If you enjoy eating fresh pineapple this is the way to go. You can get all the fruit out easily, and you can even use the empty shell as a drink container (check for leaks first not every pineapple is suited for this)

I bought one years ago for the same price and found that a knife was just as easy to use if not easier.

This looks like the one from aldi's. I've gone through a few different ones and come to the same conclusion.

A knife is also less messy.

These always break at the plastic handle joining point cause they use either elmer's glue or boogers to hold them together.

Super convenient but if you're cutting up large pineapples, you're wasting 20% and need to go back in with a blade to get the rest. Which is easy. As mentioned above also great for reusing the shell for drinks or a serving dish

Agreed! Plastic handle breaks! But this is shapely and less juice spilt

Agree 100%. a knife is actually easier for me. I use a heavier chef's knife plus a skinny utility knife to make pineapple baskets. The steps are similar to this Youtube video. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wfAZVTWKiBU

A unitasker for sure, but one that I enjoy keeping around. Not essential by any means, but I prefer using mine to using a chef's knife.
