I have the M12 and the M18 version of the Hatchet. The M12 version is great for getting into tighter spaces (due to its 6" bar) and due to it's light weight it's great for pulling off overhead cuts. However, it will bog down when attempting to cut thicker branches.
The M18 model is significantly more powerful but heavier. I converted my M18 Hatchet from a 8" bar to a 10" bar (by purchasing a MW Quik-Loc pole saw bar) which increase the differences and utility between the two. Make sure to use a Forge M18 battery to take advantage of the extra power the battery provides to the Hatchet.
