When used side by side, I can notice a huge difference (no gaming, just office stuff). If one only ever use VA, then I guess the ghosting effects might not be bothersome that much.

I honestly don't know what their point is. The same few people show up in every threat to "inform" others about a spec no one asked about and is easily accessible if someone did care. 99.9% of rando's aren't looking for product specs buried in the comment section of a random deal website. Like the armchair metallurgists who show up in every $10 knife thread. Not sure who they are trying to impress.

Its pretty clear some people do care. I prefer IPS to VA for work doing CAD. I can tell the difference and in this case the monitor being VA but listed as an IPS is relevant for value proposition. We can like and want different things and not be personal. Thats the hope anyways.

If people do care...they should shop for the correct monitor as opposed to seeking out the wrong monitor for the sole purpose of complaining.

If the monitor actually is incorrectly listed, that would be important to mention however go back to any old monitor thread and the same people come to echo the same thing each and every post regardless of inaccuracies. My point.
FWIW, the Amazon page correctly lists this as "Display Technology: VA," not sure where OP came up with the "IPS" in their title. But may be worth mentioning...this time. Just not echoed ad nauseam every single time a monitor is posted.

I'm late to this reply, but there's a few reasons. USB-C is just a port. You're talking about USB3, USB4, Thunderbolt3/4/5 as the actual connection.
3440x1440p, with only 8 bit color and 120hz needs almost 5Gbps if you are using DSC (display stream compression) via DisplayPort. It's almost 15Gbs uncompressed. If this is for work and you're ok with just 60hz, it's about 2.5Gbps. Note, this is only 8bit color, not 10bit.
So if you have a standard USB3 port, which is maybe 5Gb, sometimes 10 (rarely 20), you're using a chunk of the bandwidth already.
Your laptop also needs to support DP alt-mode over that USB-C port for this to work properly. That's why they normally want USB4 or TB3/4/5 instead, which cost more to implement in the monitor and they also normally set it up as a full hub (additional USB ports, maybe audio, maybe ethernet) or as a KVM.
Those all add costs.
There are plenty of them out there, but they are usually a bit higher cost for the reason I listed above....and they also usually have bit higher visual quality. Many Dell's that work in that manner, are oftentimes a bit more accurate color production, etc...which also drives up costs (but being designed for business use, as well within what most companies consider an acceptable range, considering the long lifecycle of monitors).
Also, there's Power Delivery. I find a LOT of basic USB3 connections on monitors that only support 60 watts power delivery. There are quite a few laptops in the business segment now that want 65watts. Usually that means jumping up to around 90+ watts in the Power Delivery area to satisfy those, which again, drives up the cost.
There are monitors out there with USB3 display connectivity over USB-C, but it's usually not a great experience in many situations (it can work for sure, but there are compromises and many people don't understand all the various technical limitations that come into play).

You will not find them at $200...even very old used ones are at least double that on ebay.
