Just curious. I'm not an engineer and not trolling. Is there a reason why people are still using these instead of an app on the phone? I personally still use a Garmin gps, because some places I drive through I lose connection on my phone. So does this calculator serve a similar function in that kind of aspect?

School? Not sure if they still use these in hs and college but I used a non color screen one many years ago

Multiple college pre-req and college level class tests require them, and won't allow the usage of a smartphone due to cheating. They're essentially mandatory for a lot of High School and College students, like "on class supply list" mandatory.

Nobody thinks these are superior to a good phone app; but they aren't going away any time soon.

Not to mention some of us don't want our kids on the phone while doing homework.
Kind of a no brainer.

They are used for mathematics, physics, whatever. Most engineering courses don't actually allow them..

Cause TX Instrument signs exclusivity contracts with the schools kinda like how your apt complex only allows 1 cable or dsl provider. Thats why the price only varies by few dollars past 30 years, so just buy it for cheaps off some kid whose done with math. Cause you not getting no deal off dat company & dats da facts jack.
