I have a Hisense that is about 5 yrs old--speakers aren't great- kind of tinny. Any thoughts on if they have improved in this set?

It all depends on what model you have, Hisense makes budget TVs and higher end ones as well. This is in the mid to upper mid range and has a built in subwoofer system. Google for any reviews, but i have the U8 (higher end model with a subwoofer) from about 4 years ago and I think that the sound is good approaching that of a soundbar.

Thank you. I likely have a low end so I will consider this one!

Most TV speakers will not be great. Even expensive ones. If you want a higher end sound, you are better off buying external speakers.

Is this worth pulling the trigger on? Are there any comparable tv's with these specs, at this price point, that I should be considering instead? Also, does Costco typically have better deals around Labor Day, or is this likely to be the best price? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Set one up for a family member earlier this week. Located in a very bright room with lots of lighting so tough tv environment and they are very pleased switching from an older OLED. This model has an antireflective screen that appears to do well in bright rooms and also I think it has fairly high peak brightness (for the price point).

The family members are not videophiles but do care how the picture looks and so far are very pleased with it. For the price point it seems to check a lot of spec boxes and the 5 yr warranty and Costco 90 day returns IMO it's worth trying out while on sale.
