Coming from a 5600 might be a side-grade but for 1080p/1440p I don't think you need more. Nice price too

If you're running a Ryzen 2600 or 3600 this is a no brainer upgrade

Overall it's a sidegrade. Youre going down in cores and clock speed but up in cache. Only worth it if you only game on your PC and want the highest possible fps in competitive games. If you use your PC for productivity as well or play a mix of competitive and single player games, I'd stick with the 5800XT.

I keep seeing x3d chips pop back up and wanting to upgrade my 5800x...but then I look at benchmarks and its really not much of an uplift at 1440p or 4k resolution.

Youtuber benchmarks often only show 1080p benchmarks where difference is more significant.
As you go up in resolution it's much more diminishing returns.

A big difference on x3d is that it reduces the 1% and frame drops on a lot of competitive games. This can be an issue even with stronger processors

I have a 5600X and I've always wanted the 5600X3D but now I think I'll pass because it just doesn't make sense to pay double the price of the 5600X for only max 30% better performance. I would be better off using that $170 on a stronger GPU.
