I mow an acre of tough growth I'm maintaining after clearing it and I treat the zero turn like a mini brush hog. It has taken a beating for years and I've had to do 0 maintenance or repairs besides blades. I may want one with tech advancements in 10 years, but I have amassed 15 batteries so far with various tool deals and marketplace finds so no worries about forced upgrade if you're in the system. Very happy to not have to deal with gas maintenance, repairs, fumes, containers, etc anymore.
I have the original hybrid 18" ryboi mower... still 15 plus years now and the original 2-4ah batteries.
I have sharpened the blade 2 or three times before needing to replace them this year. Yeah the blades are not the best but you are not supposed to be cutting rocks and tree limbs either. They are made to cut grass.
And as for the batteries, I still have them and use them for both the mower and other ryboi tools. No issues.
And sure when I need new batteries, best to find a tool and battery promo.
Gas mowers? Well I geuss I am just dumb. I usually only get 1-2 years out of them and they are toast or the motor burns/smokes out. Yes I change the oil. But then again I never bought a new gas mower, only bought cheap used ones. So perhaps that is my main issue and I really don't work on gas engines.

I have a number of gas and electric yard tools. Sometimes gas is better and sometimes battery is better and it really depends on your yard. I love my electric chainsaw but I don't cut a ton with it. My electric weed eater is a pos and I'll use a gas one anytime over it.
