So much furniture comes with power and USB now, most of it is of unknown origin (I have a couch with USB and a desk with power and USB and I don't think either mention UL listings).
Not saying any of this is 100% safe, just saying that if power strips have an electrical issue they will trip a circuit breaker before causing a fire, whereas batteries are the thing that causes a fire irregardless of what they're plugged into.
