I'm about to pull the trigger on this deal, although wishing it was available in a different color.

Mint says the color is "Black". https://store.google.com/product/pixel_10 doesn't say Pixel 10 is available in Black. Is "Black" a new color, or a Mint-specific color? Or is the color actual "Obsidian"?

you can, but that means the pixel 10 would remain locked
The pixel 10 is unlocked out of the box. It locks once you use Mint sim.

Order it, when you got the phone, turn it on, set it up and down load the mint app, and from there, you can port in, at least that's how I ported in to my A17 phone deal with mint.
I don't have a number to port in. I want a new number. Is that available during setup?

Yes, a new number is always available irrespective of the port-in.

I could still sell it for a profit though, even if it's locked

Port your main number to GV. Use any of the promo deals with a new number as your "data" sim; and if you need to port a number for any deal, port the "data" sim. Worst case, if there are no deals - get a temporary plan while you wait for a deal.

Most businesses offer better deals to attract new customers. Loyal customers are seen as cash cows to be milked.

If after staying 7 years, you feel you're getting nothing - why are you still staying?
I use my main number for Whatsapp and any app that requires a cell number to authenticate. If I port my main number to GV and have a new number on my SIM/eSIM, will I have to change my Whatsapp to that new number, or I can use a GV number for that?

I use my GV # for WhatsApp. The only issue is WhatsApp only allows 1 phone active at a time, so if you switch phones, you have to switch WhatsApp activation to that phone; conversations haven't followed for me. And, if you use the previous phone for anything without uninstalling WhatsApp, it will keep complaining it's not activated on that phone. But, as others have noted, some places won't allow a GV # for 2FA or even to be entered as your cell #, since it shows up to them as a VOIP #, not a cell #. And I can confirm that GV has no issues making/receiving calls and texts in other countries, once it is set up. Very convenient for traveling.

Can someone confirm whether the phone is locked or unlocked out of the box without activation?

Using the developer options-OEM unlocking method to check, I can confirm OEM unlocking is greyed-out and the phone is locked out of the box and before setup.

Unknown whether it's inherently locked to Mint, will lock to any carrier you connect it to, or if it will unlock upon connection to your particular carrier. So I think I'll just connect mine to Mint and either wait 60 days or try requesting an early unlock the next time I go international.

100 bucks less than the US Mobile deal I just got, I'm pissed!!! (USM $470 vs Mint $365)
I didn't even active the plan or open the phone waiting for my Spectrum cycle to end.

Called US Mobile; They wouldn't offer any credit and just offered return label and $50 bucks restocking fee.

I need working phone, so no time for returns and waiting for new phone to come in. Can't always win!
