Would I probably remember where I parked without an AirTag? Yes. But eliminating even a small chance of wandering around an enormous parking structure at the end of a long day is easily worth the cost.
What is strange is treating the use of a convenient tool as some kind of moral failure. Remembering a parking spot is not a character test, and choosing not to waste attention on something technology can handle does not make someone careless or negligent.
Some people use tools to make their lives easier. Others refuse to adapt, then rebrand that refusal as discipline and superiority. Just because you grew up without modern technology does not mean everyone else is obligated to inconvenience themselves to prove they could survive without it.
It's good to keep in places where you leave it and forget it and have a lot of space like luggage, backpack, car, etc...

I can easily think of several reasons someone would put an AirTag in their car. Have you ever been to Disneyland/World, or another attraction with a massive parking lot full of nearly identical cars? Sure, you can take a picture or try to remember the aisle or floor number, but why bother when you can just open the Find My app and see exactly where your car is? Or maybe a family member parked the car, and you need to go back to grab something from it.
I don't use one in my cars because I drive Teslas, which already provide live location tracking. But if I owned other cars, I'd definitely consider putting an AirTag in them.
