Between those 2, I'd probably go with the x5, but I'd wait for a deal.

Did a bit of research on 360 cams recently and the main options right now are this max2, insta360 x4 air, x5, and ship Osmo 360.

max2 has good image quality in bright daytime conditions, but has really bad results in low light. There are also are plenty of reviews and user reports of the max2 overheating and shutting down after just 15 minutes of continuous recording. If you record shorter clips, it'll probably be OK. Also lenses are user replaceable, so scratches and such aren't a big deal. Cheapest, but some major downsides.

Insta360, x4 air and x5 both have user replaceable lenses as well, but x4 air is slightly less capable and lighter in weight. It also has poor low light performance, but doesn't overheat as quickly as the gopro.

X5 has really good image quality in both bright and low light conditions, but is a little heavier and bigger compared to the x4 air. Retail, x4 air is $400 and x5 is $550, but there have decent deals/discounts for both of them in the recent past.

Dji Osmo 360 is probably the best performing for both bright and low light conditions and decently priced ($380 retail), but the major downside is the lack of warranty support and user replaceable lens. If you damage the lenses, you have to send the unit back to dji to have it repaired, but you can't really do that in the US due to the dji ban. You can buy relatively inexpensive snap on lens protectors for the dji, so that mitigates the lack of lens support/repair issue a little.

I ended up buying the dji, but if I really needed user replaceable lenses, I'd wait for a better deal on the x5.
