Can I apply it and go through a car wash?

No, you shouldn't rely on a standard drive-through car wash for this.
Iron remover needs to be thoroughly rinsed off within 2–4 minutes before it dries, and automated car washes create a few big problems if you try to use them for this:
1. It will dry on your paint: Waiting in line at the car wash entrance takes too long. If the chemical dries on your clear coat or trim, it can leave tough white stains or chemical etching.
2. Timing issues: Automatic wash cycles take several minutes to cycle through pre-soaks and soaps before reaching the high-pressure rinse, giving the formula way too much dwell time.
3. Restricted spray pattern: Automated wash nozzles miss tight spots like wheel barrels, under door handles, and lower rocker panels where iron buildup is worst.

After application do you have to wax the car. Does it remove the wax

Yes, it will strip most waxes and non-durable sealants, so you should reapply protection afterward.
Because iron removers contain strong chemical cleaning agents, they dissolve light protective layers right along with the iron deposits.
How It Affects Different Coatings
Traditional Carnauba Wax: Stripped completely on contact.
Synthetic Spray Sealants: Significantly degraded or stripped.
Ceramic Coatings (Professional or DIY): Safe! Iron removers are actually used as a maintenance step to clean ceramic coatings because real ceramic bonds (SiO_2) can withstand the chemicals without breaking down.
Recommended Next Steps
Since chemical decontamination strips old wax, your clear coat's pores will be exposed and squeaky clean. Leaving it bare will leave the paint unprotected against UV rays and quick rust accumulation.
1. Rinse & Wash: Wash the car thoroughly with shampoo to clear off any chemical residue.
2. Apply Protection: Apply your favorite carnauba wax, synthetic sealant, or ceramic spray coat immediately afterward
