About two years ago, I asked someone who has been playing for over twenty years if he would recommend getting into the MTG world, and he flat out said, "No." He said ever since Hasbro bought the brand, they've been flooding the market with so many releases that it's impossible to keep track of. The licensing and crossover stuff is apparently a huge money grab that will eventually lead to diminishing prices if you're a collector (his opinion). As someone who was more of a sports card collector, I can see what he's talking about.
