As an IT professional who uses a USB Ethernet adapter every day for service calls, I highly recommend getting a USB-A (full size USB) adapter if your laptop supports it and you plan to use it portably. These things put a lot off stress on C ports when hanging off a laptop. C adapters are fine if everything is just sitting on a desk.
