I thought that I had replied to your post but maybe I fell asleep before I sent it. In any event, it's 1:30 and, of course, I'm awake. I might not be here for a few days. I have to go back to the hospital in the morning. Hopefully, they won't keep me this time but I'm almost always an automatic admission.
Good luck on your hospital visit. Hope you don't have to stay. Take care.

I'm probably one of those shopper's the monkeydawn hates lol but I don't get to go to Costco very often (no bus service and it's too far to walk) and it's like a treasure hunt when I do go. I have to set a budget before I go in and stick to it otherwise I'll go home broke.
I worded that very poorly. I should explain. We go weekly to Costco. It is on our gym loop and it makes the half hour drive to the gym more palatable if we can bundle it with errands so one day each week is our costco day. I have my husband with me and it is his mission to not spend one second longer shopping than absolutely necessary. Because I am with him mot times, it is just better to get in and out as quickly as possible. On the very rare occasions I get to go with my mom, friends or by myself, I am absolutely in treasure hunting mode! I will say though that I do make the mister shop the aisle (instead of just the list) on the between ad weeks. So I do get a little treasure hunting in, maybe about once a month.

It sounds like I may the only person who hates Costco and don't plan to go back even though we have a membership. Husband got it to get two new batteries for each of our cars and now both he and our son use it for gas.

The reason I hate it is it's freezing cold in there and this was when it wasn't even that terribly cold outside. I'm not sure they have any heat on. There are huge heaters blowing right inside the doors but the temp in the store itself has to be in the 40's. I felt so bad for the folks doing samples - they were dressed in heavy jackets, knit hats and one even had a scarf on. It took me a couple of hours to warm up after leaving the store and I ended up finding nothing I wanted to buy.

I guess I don't get the appeal.
Odd how cold yours is. I used to visit several Costcos when I lived in upstate NY and none were ever cold once you really got inside.

You might want to consider Amazon for your next car batteries. They were the best price last time I priced them out and I was even able to get an upgraded one. I could still return the old one to Advanced/ Auto Zone and got a $10 gift card for the "core charge".

I'm glad you made 50 and I hope '26 lives up to your expectations! My favorite number was 42, even before Doug Adams made it The Answer to Life, The Universe and Everything.
I don't think I'll live long enough to see 2042, but turning 42 was kind of a denouement. Still, better than '25 and surely better than what's happened so far in '26.
Ah, yes, 42! A great favorite number. I had to look up denouement. Thank you for the lesson. Im sorry 42 was a bit unsatisfying to you.

I got an email offer via CVS I"m considering - anyone ever try these on -demand workout via app?
Club Pilates,
Pure Barre,
StretchLab
YogaSix

FREE for 6 months via CVS membership (I presume they get my CC & will charge me if I don't cancel)

I need some kind of a bridge program to get back to aerobic exercise,
I'm in PT for my arms still and I haven't done anything aerobic in a while. We let our gym membership lapse during COVID, DH rides a stationary (or real) bike but he's 6'3" & I MAY still be as tall as 5' so I can't share his equipment. I have my own old bike but get too winded & sore. In fact, going from the parking lot into the store can wind me - I usually grab a cart close to my car.
So I obviously need to build up some stamina
I also have a bad back, plantar fascitis & knees aren't great due to my 20 yrs at Safeway, if that impacts doing any of these. Once tried a yoga class, I was told I couldn't wear my shoes/orthotic and it killed my feet..

tyvm for feedback, about the programs and the app.

I have never heard of that program so can't give you any feedback on it. I can offer a few suggestions though.

First, if you're on Facebook and start watching some of the Reels offered on your page, you're likely to get offers for a chair exercise program.

Second, your husband should be able to adjust your stationary bike. You could at least try it once.

Third, if that doesn't work, there are some very nice fold up stationary bikes on Amazon for under $150 delivered.

Fourth, regarding your bad back, there are also a number of Reels on Facebook that have helped me so much. I 'follow' several of them and while I don't do all the exercises they recommend every day, I have been doing some for the alst few months and my back feels so much better.

Finally, I had plantar fasciitis for a couple of years.. If you haven't tried them, you should think about trying the steroid shots. They are literally one of the most painful things I've ever had, but after the third or fourth set over time and a few months of physical therapy, mine got better. I have been wearing regular shoes for more than 10 years now. I do a lot of the recommended stretches still and pretty consistently pray it never comes back.

tysm for good info, and a place to get started. I'll look for FB reels.
DH's bike is his outdoor bike on a stand, can't be adjusted but I really don't like bikes at the gym.. Elliptical used to be my thing. Treadmill caused my feet to pound & affected my back. I was looking at those under-desk things
I wear Okabashis for everything BUT the gym b/c they're not closed toe, and they have worked in place of orthotics. I (used to) be able to buy them with ECB, too. I bought a lot, probably lifetime supply so I don't even know if CVS still carries them in summer.

Steroids scare me, I've known folks whose organs shredded from them. I've never heard of it going away, though. That's interesting.

I guess I never learned to be scared of steroids and I've definitely never heard of them shredding organs. Where I live, even after taking allergy shots for years, when I was working I had a sinus infection multiple times a year. While antibiotics were often necessary, steroids were usually my go to for feeling better faster.

I am happy to say that retirement has been very good for my health. I don't think I've had a steroid or antibiotic in the last 8 years.

I'm a big fan of doing multiple things on shopping run. Sometimes I shop with somebody who hates to shop and it's a real bummer.

I'm back home from the hospital. I needed 2 surgeries and I have to go back in a month for a 3rd surgery. Everybody started freaking out when my heart rate dropped to the low 30's. They sent me to the cath lab and then for a pacemaker. I was in the cath lab for over 2 hours and it was a lot to go thru. The incision from the pacemaker hurts like hell. If this wasn't enough, there was a bunch of other stuff wrong with me. I had to take some painful IV's and go on antibiotics. I'm glad to be home but I'm going to be in bed for a week.
Wow! I just hope they didn't send you home too soon. Take care of yourself.

When I went into the hospital it was raining cats and dogs and now it's a hurricane.

Hope you have a speedy recovery and that the next surgery will be relatively easy. You remind me that it's important to take care of ourselves. To eat well, exercise and be kind to others.

The most important thing is to be psychologically prepared for when you go into the hospital. I thought that they were just going to adjust my meds and send me home. I wasn't expecting emergency surgery and a stay in the ICU. I'm still trying to mentally adjust to what happened.
Hope you heal and adjust quickly. These things, like many, seem to take longer the older we get. Rest and take care.
