I tried stacking at Walgreens, and only one of the two coupons would come off on one item.

I hope it's only a rumor, or I won't be hitting up ShopRite as much anymore.

I actually got razors that were a mm at SR yesterday, and the lady said "good thing I noticed that there were two coupons on the same item and it can't be less than free, so I'll have to get a manager to lessen the one coupon amount". As i waited a solid 5-7 minutes waiting for an override. I get it, but I guess they are cracking down??

i did get tic tacs last week that should of been a mm, but the system automatically adjusted the coupon amount. Strange how the line between free and mm is so hit or miss.

The SR I normally shop at had the cashiers watching for overage for about two weeks. I knew it wouldn't last because they really slowed down the lines when they did that. The cashier was required to scan each coupon after the matching item and adjust as needed, so of course it was a PITA as they had to look through the Q's as they scanned one item at a time.

The SR I shopped at was quite diligent about coupons matching items bought and not allowing coupons at self checkout. Ever since I shopped there the no coupons on self checkout rule was in place. The coupon checking stepped up about 6 months ago. Not sure if this is related, but the store announced it was closing last month. As of today, no more double coupons, no sale flyer, no WIC. I think they're hanging in through the end of the ham promotion.

It was weird to shop there. Many items were just not there. Bread, a good amount of the dairy, meat (deli and butcher). Either not there or greatly, greatly reduced. All the floral vases and bows greatly discounted. Same thing with the bakery. Odds and ends greatly discounted.

Careful what you all are wishing for.....

And with that, by necessity, I'll see you all on other SD grocery boards.
(It's too sad to be in this group anymore....)

Maybe it will be similiar to SnS/Giant in that you scan card last and it would work.

If not, then I will give more business to SnS/Giant, Walmart and Aldi. No biggie.

Then we'll have to figure out which gives the better savings, the digital or the man Q if the man Q doubles to more than the digital is worth. That will require 'unclipping' possibly too.

Was fun while it lasted, but while MM deals will disappear, hopefully freebie items from Q's stacking w/ IBOTTA, CO51, etc will still be plentiful.

I obviously am not getting great deals currently at SR. I feel like my best deals there were largely just from double coupons, such as dannon yogurt and Ragu simply. I don't think I got any of the good eqs like tena or the sundown.

from time to time my shoprite ads will list an item, and next to it will state digital available, and coupon available in most Sunday papers. It's like they are encouraging you to use both.

Yet another turn in Shoprite's downward spiral...They obviously think they have the market cornered or something. Shopping there used to be so much fun, I really enjoyed it for so long. There are opportunities for others to step up for sure.

The reality is as mentioned by someone else here previously competition drives greater savings and deals for us for sure. By me here in my part of NYC we used to have 4 chains now we are down to 2 along with Western Beef and Key Food and Metro but those never doubled and were good only for published sales worth the trip.
I imagine SR owners are taking their fair share of profit hits with doubling and eq's added plus a lot of MM for all of us and the extreme couponers (lets not even mention those who use coupons in unfair ways)
so they are reacting by reducing their exposure to profit drain which is a natural reaction.
Fortunately with the internet and forums like this we still have access to the many deals which will remain available to us all albeit far less generous in nature.
If you ask me this had to eventually happen so we all adapt and adjust our buying habits
